A hip to gable loft conversion suits properties that have a regular hipped roof with a sloping side, which often limits existing loft space. This makes it difficult to create a loft conversion without extending your property.
This type of conversion we extend the existing ridge board. Then replace the sloping roof with a vertical wall built up from the existing external wall to the new extended ridge. Then fill in the space in between with new rafters. If your property has two sloping sides you can opt for a double Hip to Gable loft conversion to really maximise the space.
This added space is often used for new stair access into the loft, although its a big enough for a play area, office, or just additional lounge space.
